A breath of fresh air for the Caribbean! 🌬️
The CARIAN (CARIbbean Atmospheric Network) project is revolutionizing atmospheric measurement in Guadeloupe, the Dominican Republic, and Trinidad & Tobago.

👉 Objective: continuously monitor air quality, Saharan dust clouds, and climate change through a network of connected solar stations.

A major advance to anticipate health risks and strengthen the resilience of territories! 🌍

⚙️ CARIAN: how does it work?

The project installs a network of 12 high-tech measurement stations.
Each station collects:

Measured parameterUsage
🌬️ Fine particles & pollutantsAir quality monitoring
📊 Humidity & sunshineObservation of climatic impacts
🌱 Soil compositionStudy of local ecology
🛰️ Satellite transmissionAccessible real-time data

These stations, developed by KARUSPHÈRE (Guadeloupe) in partnership with INTEC (Dominican Republic) and the University of the West Indies (Trinidad), form an innovative network serving public health and environmental planning.

🎯 Why is it essential?

The Saharan dust clouds are a recurring phenomenon in the Caribbean, with serious impacts:

IssueEffect
Public healthIncreased risks of respiratory diseases
Local economyDecrease in tourist attendance during pollution peaks
AgricultureDeposits of particles on crops
Urban planningNeed for adaptation plans

👉 CARIAN will enable early alerts and better organize the response from authorities!

🤝 An exemplary Caribbean cooperation

Beyond innovation, CARIAN embodies international collaboration:
